LEADERSHIP

Boglárka Balogné Papp graduated in 1996 and joined the Kecskemét Kodály School in that very same year as a music teacher and choir director. Throughout her career, her key professional responsibilities have included teaching advanced-level music in the secondary school’s academic programme, as well as teaching solfège, music theory, music literature, and folk music to students in the school’s specialised secondary-level performing arts programme. The fact that so many of her former students are now her colleagues is a true testament to the success and lasting impact of her teaching career.

Her work as a choir director has been equally outstanding. Over the past 28 years, the Kodály School’s large mixed-voice choir has earned numerous prestigious awards and distinctions at national competitions, as well as an official recognition from KÓTA (the Association of Hungarian Choirs, Orchestras, and Folk Ensembles).

One of the defining highlights of her artistic career came in the early 2000s, when the choir was invited to tour England. During this trip, they performed Handel’s Messiah alongside Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s world-renowned ensembles: the English Baroque Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir.

Committed to continuous professional growth Boglárka has consistently advanced her leadership expertise over the past decade:

• 2015-Present: Boglárka regularly chairs Hungarian Matura (Érettségi) examination boards.

• In 2018 Boglárka completed postgraduate specialist qualifications in education and public educational leadership. (Pedagógus Szakvizsga & Közoktatási Vezetői Szakképzés)

• Between 2019 and 2024 Boglarka served as Executive Headteacher of the Kecskemét Kodály School.

• In 2023 Boglárka became a Lead Practitioner (Mesterpedagógus) and a Registered Public Education Inspector (Köznevelési Szakértő).

Drawing on her extensive experience in school leadership and music education, Boglárka joined the M. Bodon Pál School of Music & Arts in September 2024, where she currently works as a solfège teacher.

Boglárka’s vision as a teacher is perfectly reflected in the words of the novelist Zsigmond Móricz

“To nurture the human mind is the most beautiful calling.

Be a noble soul, abundant in spirit,

So that by the virtue of your own humanity,

You might bring forth the best in others.”
